Rick Riley's Student Places First in State
Although he didn't play classical guitar until two years ago, High School junior, Aaron
Willoughby, has already won some impressive awards. After winning all-district-finals, Willoughby
went on to take the state solo contest at
Central Washington University, nabbing first place in
the classical guitar category.

According to his family, the
young guitarist developed a love
for music while in elementary
school. He has played bass clarinet for six years and is also in the
jazz band at Yelm High School.
"Aaron is an all-around out-standing
standing musician who works diligently at everything he has ever
done," music teacher Dave
Lorentzen said. "He is an
extremely bright, talented musician who will be able to have a
career in music performance if he
chooses."
Willoughby would like to pursue a career as a music teacher.
Currently, he receives private instruction on the guitar from
Rick Riley of Olympia.
